Originally from Wales, Chris Desborough has lived in several countries before settling in the USA 35 years ago. Now based in Emigrant, Montana — close to the gateway to Yellowstone National Park.
Chris has developed a deep passion for wildlife photography and loves sharing insights about the park’s unique ecosystems, history, and hidden gems. If you're looking for a personal, informative, and memorable Yellowstone experience, Chris will deliver.
My passion for photography started back in the seventies, using Minolta film cameras, and then developing my own black and white pictures in a special darkroom. Special in that it was also my kitchen, so it was either eat or print pictures, but never at the same time.
Jump forward into the mid-eighties and I spent the next twenty-five years in optical engineering in the microchip industry, where most of the optical equipment that produces microchips is made by Canon or Nikon.
I was an early adopter of digital photography, starting out with 3mb and then 5mb cameras before getting serious as resolution improved. I spent several months reviewing all the data for Canon and Nikon lenses, unable to decide which one to go with, until my wife said, “will you please buy something”, and you can’t refuse that command. Literally after a coin-toss I then started my Nikon journey with the D2, progressing to the D3. I still have the D4, D5, D850 and the superb Z9.
